How much will therapy cost with insurance? With any insurance question, it is recommended you call the benefits number on the back of your card. You can ask if your plan includes a copay or deductible, and whether you are eligible to see a specific provider (Dr. Jonathan Weingarden for this practice group). Typically, psychotherapy copay is the same as seeing a PCP and is printed on the front of most insurance cards.
-
How to pay?Payment can be made by credit card through the "Client Portal," which offers secure, HIPAA compliant transactions. This can be used for self-pay, or any deductible or copay that you might owe, depending on your insurance coverage. The portal offers an auto-pay feature if you choose to use it, and automatically sends invoices the day after the session, or after insurance requests your copay/deductible. *I can also accept cash or check. Please refer to the "Contact Me" page if you have questions about payment or reimbursement.
-
What if I'm using out-of-network coverage? There are two possible ways to cover the cost of sessions: You can pay directly through the client portal and submit a "superbill" (a receipt) to your insurance for reimbursement. Superbills are automatically generated monthly, but I can send you one after each payment if you prefer. I can set up electronic non-provider billing with most insurance companies. There may be a copay or deductible depending on your insurance.

What is Self-Pay?Also called private-pay, can include people without insurance, those who wish not to use their insurance, or people who have insurance that covers out-of-network providers. Those who are doing self-pay are responsible for the cost of therapy. Each therapist sets their own self-pay rate, and, if they have one, sliding scale.

What if I am experiencing a crisis? Please call 911 if it is an emergency. For mental health crises, call Re:Solve Crisis (888) 796-8226. If calling emergency services is not immediately necessary, clients can contact me directly. If I cannot answer immediately, I will call back at my earliest opportunity. I do not take emergency calls for non-clients - such calls should be directed to the emergency contacts listed above.
-
Where is your office?Dr. Weingarden and staff offer both telehealth and in-person session. In-person sessions are held in Aspinwall, at 101 Emerson Avenue, Pittsburgh PA, 15215.

How often do we meet for therapy sessions?Therapy can be time-limited or longer term. Time-limited therapy is appropriate when the client has a specific problem to be addressed, and the problem is appropriate to address in a brief therapy. More typically, people do not set a specific end for therapy.
